THE VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW 2017

One of my guilty pleasures of the holiday season is the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - and I am not ashamed! Every year, without fail, my sister comes over, my husband retreats to another room, and we curl up on the sofa practically holding our breath as we wait in anticipation for the show to begin. And a show is exactly what it is. For me, its not about lingerie, women in their underwear, or supermodels, but a showcase of beautiful garments. Yes, the glamazon women are beyond fabulous, but the creators of their elaborate costumes truly deserve applause. It is a performance of artistry, story telling, and fantasy all in one fun night! It was quite a challenge to narrow down, but here are my top 10 favorites from this year's show.

10. I love the fact that the bodysuit is clear with only the leopard spots giving the effect that her skin is like animal skin. The black and nude color palette is so chic, and I don't think the wings were even necessary.

9. How fun are these wings? I love the giant fluffy pom pon effect and the mixture of bright, vivid colors. The tiered sleeves are so beautifully detailed from shoulder down to the wrist. Top the whole look off with a ribbon bow, and voilå!

8. We have to give it up for the amazing Alessandra Ambrosio, who gave her final walk. I honestly shed a little tear for her. Again, we have a fabulous set of wings. I love the various shades of pink, red and purple. The bib necklace is also incredibly intricate and just stunning! The showstoppers here though have to be the boots, from the bright royal diamonds down the front to the black feathers around the ankle. But the most fascinating part about them are the rows of aqua colored mini pom pons. Look closely - did you spot them?

7. These jaw dropping wings opened the show. Much of my delight in this show are all the incredible wings! The wings are really the focal point of this ensemble. You'll notice the simple bodice and sophisticated necklace do not compete. The shape and texture of the wings are so reminiscent of the juju hats that have been trending in interior decor the past several years.

6. This could be a dress (with a few alterations), and I would wear it! From the rich jewel toned color combination, the strategic placement of the bands of color, the high-low hemline, the peplum at the waist, and the cuffs at the sleeve complete with ribbon ties...a spectacular garment!

5. This look brings femininity with an edge. I love the mix of metallics, and the layering of chains to contrast the softness of the embroidery work. The flowers as wings is such a pretty addition.

4. This look is so sublime it takes your breath away. The beaded bodice that hugs only the sides of her body and the lace-up nude heels are so so good, but what got me is the architectural tent-like fabric structure floating behind her. I so admire the marriage of architecture and fashion. It is truly beautiful.

3. This segment, Porcelain Angel, was by far my favorite, with its feminine looks and simple color palette. So lovely! I love the shape of this garment, from the high neck to the small cutout detail that hugs the torso, and the way the skirt just floats away from the body. The white and blue pattern really does remind me of fine china.

2. I love neutral palettes, all things white and fluffy, and I also gravitate towards curves and soft edges. From head to toe, this look checks all the boxes. The wings are amazing, of course. My favorite part however is the continuation of the wing pieces around her neck reaching up to her chin to frame her face and stretching across her upper chest. I kind of want one of those!

1. And the winner is worn by one of my favorite of the VS models, Lily Aldridge. The black lace detail on the shoulders that works its way up to a delicate choker, the balloon sleeve, the ever so chic booties - what's not to love? The wings are perfection as the deeper blue stands out without taking over the look. Again, loving that they are flowers.

What drew me most to the Porcelain Angel portion of the show, is how easily this aesthetic can be translated into interiors.

So, have you looked beyond the lingerie? I hardly notice it!
