The detail in this bedroom in undeniably special. I love the light and airy color palette paired with crisp tailoring. Not only is the yellow trim banding on the bed canopy and window treatments so beautiful, but, if you look closely, you can see that there is a yellow printed fabric lining the entire inside of the canopy. Subtly yet so impactful. To emphasize the yellow, it is repeated again on the bedding and upholstered foot stool at the end of the bed.

At the opposite end of the spectrum we have a dark, moody bedroom wherein the yellow is also used sparingly and is concentrated around the bed. The bed is after all the focal point of the room. The geometric pattern on the fabric of the headboard compliments the hard lines of the poster bed and bedside table. I just adore a good poster bed.

On the subject of poster beds, why not let that be your yellow accent piece? It draws your attention immediately as it pops off the gray walls and bedding, and adds a graphic quality to the space.

For a more traditional aesthetic, try a softer yellow that is layered throughout the space. If you aren't afraid of color (or if you are, this one is not too loud), incorporate similar hues of yellow in various textures and patterns. Here there is one main pattern that is used on both the walls and bedskirt. It is broken up by a solid, slightly darker yellow on the window treatments and bed throw. Keeping contrast to a minimum allows the eye to rest and the space to feel tranquil even when using a cheerful color.
